Notarizing Estate Plan Documents
Planning one's estate is crucial in ensuring the distribution of assets and the protection of personal wishes. As an experienced mobile notary in California, I have notarized hundreds of estate plan documents and understand the different paperwork one might see. The most common forms I see in trust packets include the Last Will and Testament, Living Trust, Advance Health Care Directive, Power of Attorney, HIPAA Authorization, Grant Deed, Transfer of Trust assets, Certification of Trust, and Declaration of Trust.
Last Will and Testament:
The Last Will and Testament is perhaps the most well-known document in estate planning. It allows individuals to outline how they want their assets distributed after their passing. As a mobile notary, I can help you notarize your Last Will and Testament, ensuring its validity and authenticity. It may need to be witnessed rather than notarized, and in those instances, I can also serve as a witness.
Living Trust:
A Living Trust is a common component of an estate plan. It is a legal arrangement that enables the transfer of assets to a trustee to manage and distribute according to specific instructions. Notarizing a Living Trust adds an extra layer of protection and validity to the interests of all involved parties.
Advance Health Care Directive:
An Advance Health Care Directive allows individuals to appoint someone they trust to make healthcare decisions on their behalf if they cannot do so. Notarizing this document ensures its authenticity is established and holds up legally in critical situations.
Power of Attorney:
A Power of Attorney grants someone else the authority to act on behalf of the signer in legal and financial matters. Notarizing a Power of Attorney document provides an official record of its execution, making it more credible and easier to recognize by relevant parties. Banks and hospitals are often the entities that request a notarized Power of Attorney.
HIPAA Authorization:
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Authorization allows designated individuals to access an individual's private health information. Notarizing this document helps ensure that the authorization is duly granted and can be recognized by healthcare providers when needed.
Grant Deeds:
In estate planning, Grant Deeds are commonly used to transfer real estate properties into the trust. Grant Deeds are required to be notarized as it verifies the grantor's signature, making the transfer legally enforceable.
Transfer of Trust Assets:
When assets need to be moved into a trust, a Transfer of Trust Assets document is utilized. Assets typically include real estate, bank accounts, investments, personal property, and more. Notarizing this document confirms the transfer, adding a layer of authenticity and legality to the process.
Certification of Trust:
A Certification of Trust is a condensed version of a Living Trust that verifies its existence and the authority of the trustee. Notarizing this document provides further assurance to financial institutions and other relevant parties.
Declaration of Trust:
The Declaration of Trust outlines a trust's establishment, terms, and beneficiaries. Notarizing this document helps validate its authenticity, ensuring that all relevant parties recognize its legal standing.

Pricing: Estate Plan Documents
Estate plan packets require a notary on most documents. The CA standard is $15 per notarized signature + mobile notary fees. However, that can get expensive, especially if there are multiple signers and you need a mobile notary to come to your location. Therefore, I put price caps on my services to keep the price from getting too high. The following reflects my pricing:

I cover every OC city between Anaheim and San Clemente, including all the coastal cities like Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach. Wherever you want me to meet you in the city, I will go there to meet all your notary needs.
